A new era awaits the Catalan club

Today, Wednesday, the Spanish club Barcelona announced the official contract with German Hansi Flick, in order to work as the team’s coach starting this summer.

Barcelona had previously abandoned Xavi Hernandez and removed him from coaching the team, due to disagreements that occurred between him and club president Joan Laporta, so his contract was terminated by mutual consent after a series of talks.

After a short period of waiting, Barcelona’s official website came out with certain news, confirming that Flick is the new coach of the Catalan team during the upcoming season.

The club said in an official statement: “We have reached a final agreement with German Hansi Flick, to become the team’s coach until June 30, 2026.”

He added: “Flick signed the contract in the presence of Joan Laporta, club president, Rafa Yuste, first vice president and responsible for sporting affairs, in addition to Deco, the club’s sporting director.”

This announcement came after the other statement that was published about the agreement with Xavi and his staff to terminate the contract, after agreeing to end his service with the club a year before the end of his contract.

Barcelona’s official website was keen to praise Flick’s style, which relies on high and intense pressure, and the offensive boldness that appeared during his experience at the club level and with the German national team.

He also highlighted the trophies he won during his career with Bayern, where he won the German League title twice, the Club World Cup, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the German Cup, and the local Super Cup once.

The Catalan club touched on the historic treble it achieved in the 2019/2020 season, which included a painful loss to Barcelona in the Champions League with a score of 8/2 at the hands of Flick himself during his period with Bayern Munich.
